Happy New Year 2026 everyone!

As we all hope for the best in the New Year it would be interesting to see what the great oracle book called the Yi Jing can tell us what is lined up for us in the coming year.

Many if not most people are pretty tired of everything they went through in the past five years, we all hope this year will give us a break, give us some hope and some reasons to be optimistic about the future (here in the West).

So what is the message from the Yi?

Good news: standstill/stagnation that was the hallmark of the past five years seems to come to an end. This may suggest better economy, more jobs, people getting out of the dire financial situation which beset them for the past five years.

Bad news: the infamous agenda seems to be moving into the next stage: Gathering people together (massing) or in other words, globalist plans of centralized control of the whole world will be more obvious in the year 2026. This may mean loss of sovereignty for smaller countries, depriving people from human rights and rights to free speech, possibly limitations on movement, energy consumption, possible violent opposition to the globalist plans, even initiating wider wars as a human sacrificial ritual which would facilitate Gathering together (Massing) etc.

So in the nutshell that is what the Yi Jing is telling us 2026 has as a surprise for us.

Lets get into some more detail.


BIAS TEST (偏见测试)

These are some of my attitudes and opinions which are likely to profile the interpretation of the received hexagrams:

  • I am not very optimistic when it comes to what is taking place in the western countries over the past decade or so, especially after the pLandemic in 2020. If you read my previous posts this is more than obvious so I won't dwell on that for too long since nothing much has changed either in the world around me nor in my own mind when it comes to controlled (self-inflicted) demolition of the western society.
  • I have very strong disgust for all evil people in the positions of power who are and who have been behind the covid crime, depopulation agenda, mass-migrations which bring nothing but suffering to everyone etc..
  • Therefore my interpretation of the received hexagrams will be skewed in the direction of the dystopian vision some Satan-worshipers have been implementing for the western countries. I cannot help it.


The original hexagram (本卦 Běn guà)




12. Pǐ  (否), Obstruction, Standstill (Stagnation) with changing line 6

THE JUDGMENT

STANDSTILL.  Evil people do not further
The perseverance of the superior man.
The great departs; the small approaches.

THE LINES

Nine at the top means:
The standstill comes to an end.
First standstill, then good fortune.

This hexagram comes paired up with the hexagram #11 (Tài (泰), Peace) which has Heaven (☰ 乾 (Qián) below and Earth (☷ 坤 (Kūn) ) above. Tai represent harmony and prosperity because Heaven and Earth are in perfect harmony because their communication is flawless. 

It is very easy to understand the meaning of the hexagram Tai.

Hexagram Pǐ   (否), Obstruction, Standstill (Stagnation) is the exact opposite - Earth (☷ 坤 (Kūn) is below and Heaven (☰ 乾 (Qián)  is above, which means they look in opposite directions - Heaven's natural inclination is to direct influence upwards, Hearth's heaviness moves its influence downwards, they totally lack communication which is symbolically represented by the Chinese character Pǐ 





The top part means NO and the bottom part means MOUTH; therefore there is no speaking, there is no communication.

Last five years in the western world have been characterized by stagnation and standstill because ordinary people and their leadership have been in total disconnect: the leaders have betrayed the people, ordinary people lost the trust and withdrew their loyalty to the leadership. (No, elections mean nothing, even if we ignore the fact that less than 50% of people cast their ballots, on average, many have serious suspicions regarding the integrity of the electoral process as a whole).

So this is one of the most depressing hexagrams in the whole Book of Changes. This is the time when petty men rule and Superior men hide in shadows and bid their time.

I won't spend too much time on the first hexagram since its meaning is very clear and matches very well what we have seen in the past five years.

I will only comment on the text of the moving line:

Nine at the top means:
The standstill comes to an end.
First standstill, then good fortune.

This is the top line in the hexagram, the stagnation has run its full course and now the time of standstill has come to the end.

That is good.

Except that the resulting hexagram Cuì  (萃), Gathering together (massing) may not have such a perfect prediction of the outcome if the hexagram 12 with the 6th changing line in ALL situations...

Resulting hexagram (之卦 Zhī Guà)



Hexagram # 45 Cuì  (萃), Gathering together (massing) has ☱ (兌 Duì) Open also means (澤) Swamp, also translated as Lake, above and ☷ (坤 Kūn) Field also means (地) Earth below.

Two firm lines are those of the ruler (the fifth line) and his ministers (the fourth line).

So to simplify this image we can say: this hexagram symbolically represents the Swamp ruling over the Earth.

Not a pretty image, if you ask me.

☱ (兌 Duì) above means that the ruling class will use mostly persuasion in order to achieve its goals however there are a coupe of things that bring dramatic effects in this narrative:

1) Hexagram 45 comes after hexagram 44 Gòu (姤), Coming to meet, which depicts dark energy tip-toeing into the situation with bad intentions,

2) Hexagram 45 comes before hexagram 46 Shēng (升), Pushing upward, which would mean that the time of Cuì  (萃), Gathering together (massing) is preparation for even more powerful push in the same direction of the total control (perhaps).

Interestingly enough our first hexagram is hexagram 12
 Pǐ  (否), Obstruction, Standstill (Stagnation) and the following hexagram # 13 is called Tóng Rén (同人), Fellowship with men, however in the hexagram people are gathering of their own volition. In the hexagram # 8 Bǐ  (比), Holding together the binding agent is the ruler alone, in the fifth line, In the hexagram Yù (豫), Enthusiasm people are also enthusiastically responding to the minister in the fourth line, who is also achieving gathering effect.

However in our situation of Cuì  (萃), Gathering together (massing) the ruler (fifth line) is using ministers (fourth line) and the power of the state to gather people. There is a significant difference between gathering under hexagrams 8, 13,  16 and the situation described in the hexagram 45 Cuì  (萃).

Wilhelm in his book points out the link between hexagram 12 and hexagram 45, rightly so, because with the sixth changing line hexagram 45 is the exact method how one reverts the time of stagnation (standstill) back into something more functional. This is how you remedy the problem created in the hexagram 12 - those two hexagrams are in the problem-solution relationship. But only if the subject of the fifth line (in Cuì  (萃)) embodies the qualities of a noble ruler and the subject(s) of the fourth line inherently possess qualities of good ministers, loyal and devoted to the ruler and having genuine concern for the well-being of the ordinary people. In our situation, unfortunately, neither one of those two is evident.

Here we should briefly mention the Chinese concept of Dang 當 (often translated as "timeliness," "appropriateness," or "being in accord") - hexagram prediction (good or bad fortune) depends on the subject of the hexagram, trigram or subject as implied in our question being truly in accord with the requirements of the hexagram. For example in order to have success with Gathering together the ruler (fifth line) and his ministers (the fourth line) must adhere to righteousness and the principles of mean. 

In my opinion western rulers are not Dang 當 as far as basic requirements of the hexagram 45 are concerned therefore they cannot count on any success however they will still attempt everything that is described in the Judgement for the hexagram 45.

3) In "The Duke of Zhou Changes" by Stephen L Field he translated hexagram #45 as "Suffering" - Chinese character 
萃 Cui has grass element above and a phonetic element below and it means "to collect" or "to assemble". However in Mawangdui version of the Yi Jing the bottom part of the character appears without grass (top element) and it means "to finish" or "to die", then he found another character that has element for illness and Cui character without grass 瘁  (also pronounced Cui)which means "to suffer". This is how translations of the Yi Jing work, you practically do whatever you want and call it scholarship. Most translations use Gathering (around the leader) as the core meaning.

THE JUDGMENT

GATHERING TOGETHER.  Success.
The king approaches his temple.
It furthers one to see the great man.
This brings success.  Perseverance furthers.
To bring great offerings creates good fortune.
It furthers one to undertake something.

This indicates Gathering together must be structured around some common beliefs and in Shang and Zhou times this was religion and ancestral worship. In our times rulers must look for some other common unifying ideology if they want to unite diverse masses with totally incompatible religions such as Christianity, Talmudism and Islam. It will be interesting to see how they do that.

It furthers one to see the great man.

This grandiose undertaking will certainly need support from both human and artificial intelligence and I do not have any doubts they have means to purchase both.

This brings success.  Perseverance furthers.

Persevere they will, will they succeed, time will tell.

To bring great offerings creates good fortune.

This is the scariest part - "they" like giving sacrificial offerings in human blood, we see it over many centuries. Will they do it again? Will they organize another needless war(s) and use it as a unifying agent for the masses? We'll see...

It furthers one to undertake something.

To facilitate Gathering together they will do things which will frighten and confuse people because they know those afraid and confused will comply more willingly. 

Very likely in the initial stages of the Gathering together they will appoint regional hegemons which will act off-the-wall without any consequences (have you seen Trump abduction the president of Venezuela and his wife, two days ago?) and later they will push even further in unification.

Those regional hegemonies could be

Russia - Euroasian hegemon,
China - East-asian hegemon
USA - North and Central American hegemon
EU - Western/Eastern European hegemon


So basically we have two scenarios:

Optimistic scenario:

Original hexagram 12 is promising end of stagnation and arrival of good fortune.
Resulting hexagram 45 is interpreted as the state of assembling, willing acceptance (Kun below) manifested as Joy (upper trigram). Things are good, life goes on, everyone is happy. This possibility does exist under certain conditions, which primarily depend on the greatness and the benevolence of the subjects of the fifth and the fourth line. If the ruler and his ministers are evil I would not bet on this interpretation.

Pessimistic scenario:

The time of stagnation is over however the rulers and their state aparatus are hell-bent on uniting people regardless whether they want it or not. For that they consult "the great man" which could mean advice from some advance AI models, they conduct major sacrifice (which may mean war or wars), they undertake things which no one expected (such as annexing Greenland or accepting Alberta into the USA) etc.

Conclusion

Here is what the Commentary on the Image says for hexagram #45:
澤上于地,萃。君子以除戎器,戒不虞。
Zé shàng yú dì, cuì. Jūn zǐ yǐ chú róng qì, jiè bù yú.
Over the earth, the lake:
The image of GATHERING TOGETHER.
Thus the superior man renews his weapons
In order to meet the unforeseen.
So here we have advice for the rulers (the superior man) to arm well and prepare for unexpected.

My advice to you would be to do the same: arm well and prepare for the unexpected.
